A Biblical Universe

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching...."

Arguably (not to me), this is the most important phrase in the Bible, both for the believer and nonbeliever. For the believer, it is the comfort of having a source of absolute truth. As an implicit challenge to the nonbeliever – find anything untrue, render God a liar, and cast doubt on all of the Bible – if it had occurred, I’m sure it would have made the cover of Time magazine !

Jn 3:19-22

"…Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil…"

Ro 1:20

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse"

Ps 19:1

" The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands..."

Ecc 3:11

"He (God) has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done, from beginning to end."

( Homocentrism: the inability to accept the possiblity of being accountable to the Creator.)

Ro 8:21, Ps 102:25, 26

"...the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay..."

"In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but your remain; they will all wear out like a garment..."

These sound like the second law of thermodynamics !

1 Co 15:51 - 52

"…we will all be changed - in a flash…"

This sounds like the first law of thermodynamics ! It's God's nature, too - he created it, along with the metaphysical world. Only man in his arrogance, or evolutionary blindness, would name, what he has used science to discover and/or understand, after himself !

Ps 94:9

' "Does He who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?"

This is the teleological argument for the existence of God i.e. why would an intelligent designer create organs with no, partially functional purpose. How did species evolve from one to two eyes? When did depth perception, in the evolutionary scheme, become important ?

Col 1:16,17

" For by Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible...all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together."

More remarkable than His creation, is the fact that, in spite of the free will He gave to man, He holds the universe together in a way that follows His plan !

Ge 1:16-18

"He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth"

Job 40, 41 - Dinosaurs and dragons

Behemoth – from the description, clearly not a hippo, as some commentators suggest. It was able to stand in the Jordan river at flood stage, “…his tail sways like a cedar, he ranks first among the works of God “ – a brontosaurus, ultrasaurus, etc.

Leviathan – a flying dinosaur (ample fossil evidence) that was fire breathing, again clearly not the crocodile some suggest. Simply reroute the soft tissue (won’t fossilize) of the GI tract from the traditional anal, to an oral exit (phew !), provide a spark source to ignite the methane (like the sparking beetle of today) et voila !
